Trademark protection is not limited to the literal letters "Rentitem.lk". The Act protects against any use that, in the eyes of an ordinary consumer, would create confusion with our mark, visually, phonetically or conceptually.

The name "Rentitem" / "Rentitem.lk"

Word mark, in any case, spacing, or stylisation, including "Rent Item", "RentItem", "rent-item".

Logo & device mark

All Rentitem.lk logos, wordmarks, lockups, monograms and brand devices used across our website, app and printed material.

Sound-alike & phonetic copies

Names that sound the same when spoken, e.g. "Rentaitem", "Rentitam", "Rent-Aitem", "Rentitem LK", "Rent It M", are also covered.

Visual & domain copies

Look-alike domains, social handles, storefront names and visual styling that imitate Rentitem.lk and create consumer confusion.

Translations & transliterations

Sinhala / Tamil transliterations of "Rentitem" and translated equivalents are protected when used for the same class of services.

What is not allowed

Conduct that infringes our mark

1Registering a domain, social handle, business name or storefront that contains "Rentitem" or any phonetically similar variation, in any language.
2Selling, advertising, or operating a rental, e-commerce, marketplace or event-services business under a name that sounds like, looks like, or is confusable with Rentitem.lk.
3Using the Rentitem.lk logo, wordmark, brand colours, taglines or any derivative artwork without a written licence.
4Reproducing parts of the mark, for example using only "Rentitem" without ".lk", or only the device, to suggest affiliation, endorsement, partnership or franchise.
5Running paid advertisements (Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, etc.) bidding on the Rentitem.lk name as a keyword to divert traffic to a competing service.
6Selling counterfeit merchandise, uniforms, ID cards, invoices or quotations bearing the Rentitem.lk name or logo.

The phonetic-similarity rule

Under Sri Lankan trademark law, a mark is infringed not only when the spelling is copied, but also when the sound is copied. Names like Rentaitem, Rentitam, Rent-Aitem, Rentitm, Rentitem.com or any combination that produces a similar pronunciation when spoken, in English, Sinhala or Tamil, fall within the scope of our mark and will be treated as infringement.

We monitor the Sri Lankan market, the .lk and .com domain spaces, and major social platforms for misuse of our mark. Where infringement is detected, we will pursue any combination of the following remedies, without prior warning where the infringement is deliberate or causes immediate consumer harm.

Take-down requests filed with domain registrars, web hosts, social platforms (Meta, Google, TikTok, YouTube, X), payment gateways and ad networks.

4. Criminal complaints where the law allows

Criminal complaints where the law allows, particularly for counterfeit goods, fraudulent invoicing or impersonation of our staff.

5. Recovery of legal costs

Recovery of legal costs, investigation costs and an account of all revenue earned from the infringing use.

Permitted references to Rentitem.lk

You may refer to Rentitem.lk by name, without a licence, in the following limited situations:

Honest journalism, reviews, comparison articles or academic work, provided the reference is accurate, not misleading, and does not imply endorsement.
Customers identifying us as the source of an item they hired, on their own social media, in their own portfolios, or in event credits.
Authorised affiliates, vendors and partners using the official media kit we have issued in writing.

All other uses, including selling, sub-licensing, merchandising or running a commercial venture under a similar name, require a written licence from Rentitem.lk Pvt Ltd.
