This is the Shure SLX Wireless Microphone Receiver, the SLX4 base station from Shure's SLX UHF wireless range. It is not a microphone.
It is the receiving half of a wireless system: it sits at the mixer position, listens on the UHF band, and picks up the radio signal sent by a matching Shure SLX handheld or bodypack transmitter that a presenter or vocalist is using on stage.
It then converts that signal back into clean audio and passes it out to your sound system.
The SLX4 uses true diversity reception, with two antenna sections that continuously pick the stronger signal to reduce dropouts in busy venues.
Automatic frequency scanning tunes it to a clear channel across a 24 MHz UHF window with 960 selectable frequencies, so it holds up in crowded RF environments like Colombo hotels and conference halls.
It outputs through a balanced XLR and an unbalanced 1/4 inch jack, so it connects to professional mixing consoles or portable powered speakers.
Because it is a receiver only, it does not make sound on its own: you also need a matching Shure SLX transmitter, plus a mixer or PA and mains power, to complete the chain and be heard.
