You place a projector or a laptop on the tray, set the column to the height you need, and the tripod holds it steady while you present.
The frame is aluminium, so it is light to carry from one room or venue to the next, and the whole stand folds down small enough to move by hand or in a car.
The tray sits at roughly 45 cm at its lowest for a seated table-top position, and extends to about 120 cm for a standing projection or presentation height, giving a wide working range from one stand.
It is rated to hold approximately 10 kg, which covers most mainstream projectors and 13 to 17 inch laptops with room to spare.
It is a support stand only, so the projector, laptop, cabling and power all run separately from whatever you place on top.
The tray keeps the device flat and steady, and because the base folds down there is nothing to assemble at the venue beyond opening the legs and setting the height.
