The Godox lantern softbox turns a bare strobe or LED head into a big, glowing lantern that lights faces and rooms with soft, even, 360-degree light. It clips on in about a minute and folds flat into its bag for the trip.
It is a modifier, so bring or rent a Bowens-mount light head to go with it.
This is a Godox collapsible lantern softbox, about 85cm (33.5 inches) across, from the CS-85D lantern series.
It is a spherical, lantern-shaped light modifier that fits over a studio light head to soften and spread its output.
Instead of a hard, direct beam, it wraps the light around your subject in all directions, with a wide 270-degree spread that fills a whole space with a gentle, even glow.
The key thing to understand is that this is a modifier, not a light. On its own it produces nothing.
It mounts on a separate Bowens S-type strobe or LED head, which supplies the actual light, and it then softens and spreads that output.
The Bowens mount is confirmed on our unit, so it fits the common Godox, Aputure and NiceFoto heads that use that ring.
It has a foldable aluminium frame with a nylon diffusion cover, opens and collapses in about a minute, and packs down into an included carry bag for easy transport.
That makes it a fast, portable way to get flattering, soft light on location or in a small studio without lugging heavy panels or large frames around.
