It uses a dynamic capsule with a tight cardioid pickup pattern, so it captures the one voice directly in front of it and rejects room reflections, keyboard clatter and off-axis noise.
That makes it forgiving in ordinary, untreated rooms where a sensitive condenser would pick up too much.
Its 20Hz to 20kHz response is tuned for spoken word, giving a full low end and clear presence in the mids for the classic broadcast sound.
A built-in pop filter tames plosive B and P bursts without an extra accessory, an internal shock mount reduces desk and handling rumble, and an integrated swing mount threads straight onto a standard boom arm or desk stand.
One important point: the PodMic has an XLR output only, so it is not a plug-and-play USB microphone.
To hear and record it you need an audio interface or mixer with a clean, high-gain mic preamp, plus an XLR cable to connect the two.
Being a dynamic mic it does not need phantom power, but it does like a preamp with plenty of quiet gain to sound its best.
