The JBL SRX725 is a professional dual 15-inch passive PA speaker built to be the main top for concerts, festivals and large functions.
It needs an external amplifier to run, and delivers concert-grade output when paired with one.
The JBL SRX725 is a two-way passive PA loudspeaker from JBL Professional.
Each cabinet carries two 15-inch 2265H Differential Drive woofers for the low and mid frequencies, plus a single 4-inch 2452H neodymium compression driver for the highs.
It handles 1200W continuous and 4800W peak into a 4-ohm load, reaches from 37 Hz up to 20 kHz, and pushes up to 136 dB peak SPL with a wide 75 by 50 degree coverage pattern.
Sound reaches it through two Neutrik Speakon NL-4 connectors, and a rear-panel switch lets it run in passive or bi-amplified mode.
The birch plywood cabinet with DuraFlex finish, integrated handles and M10 rigging points is built to survive repeated load-in and load-out on the road.
Being passive is the key thing to understand about this speaker. It has no amplifier inside, so on its own it makes no sound.
You drive it from an external power amplifier that can deliver high power into 4 ohms, connected with a Speakon cable.
That split design is exactly what large-event engineers want, because it lets you choose the amp, match the power to the room and tune the whole system rather than being locked to a fixed internal amp.
If you would rather have a self-powered plug-and-play box for a small room, a powered speaker is the simpler choice.
For a full concert or festival PA where headroom and control matter, the SRX725 driven by a proper amp is a workhorse main top.
