A 0.5-metre HDMI 1.4 cable that carries Full HD 1080p video and audio between stacked or rack-mounted gear and a nearby display. It is tested before every rental, so it just works on the day.
This is a short HDMI cable built to the HDMI 1.4 specification, fitted with full-size HDMI Type-A male plugs on both ends.
At just 0.5 metres, it is made for neat, close-in connections where a longer lead would only add clutter, such as between stacked devices on a desk, a media player and a nearby monitor, or a switcher and a recorder in a rack.
It is shielded to keep the picture clean over the short run and has gold-plated contacts that resist corrosion for reliable signal transfer.
The cable carries picture and sound together on a single lead, so you do not need a separate audio cable, and it supports embedded multi-channel audio alongside the video.
Built to the HDMI 1.4 standard, it delivers Full HD 1080p as its headline and carries up to 10.2 Gbps of bandwidth.
It can also carry 4K, but only at 30Hz, not the 4K at 60Hz that newer displays expect, so for native 4K 60Hz the HDMI 2.0 cable is the right choice.
The signal flows one way, from the source device into the display or recorder, and no external power is needed because it is a passive copper cable.
Because it is so short, it is a clean, low-cost way to complete a setup on rental day without buying a cable you would use once and then leave in a drawer.
A short cable for tidy Full HD links
