This is a short 0.25 m passive converter from UGREEN, built for one job: getting a DisplayPort source onto an HDMI display.
It has a DisplayPort 1.2 male plug on the source side and an HDMI female port on the display side, so the DisplayPort end goes into your laptop, desktop or graphics card, and you run an HDMI cable from the port into the projector, TV or monitor.
It converts the DisplayPort output to an HDMI signal, carrying picture and sound together over one link, so a screen with built-in speakers plays audio without a separate lead.
Being passive, it draws the small power it needs from the DisplayPort port itself, with nothing to plug into mains and no drivers to install.
The connectors are gold-plated and the body is shielded to hold a clean signal. It passes up to 4K at 60Hz, with the real output set by what your source and display can manage, so a 1080p laptop still sends 1080p.
Keep in mind it is one-directional, from DisplayPort source to HDMI display only, and it is a short adapter rather than a long cable, so add an HDMI cable for the distance to the screen.
Choose it when your laptop or PC has a full-size DisplayPort out but the projector or TV on the day only takes HDMI.
