An AC power adaptor with an NP-FW50 shaped dummy coupler that sits in your Sony camera battery slot and feeds steady power from a wall socket.
Your a6000, A7 II, NEX or other NP-FW50 body runs indefinitely for time-lapse, studio, streaming and long shoots. Tested before every rental, so it just works on the day.
This is a mains power supply for Sony cameras that take the NP-FW50 battery.
Instead of a real battery, a dummy coupler shaped exactly like an NP-FW50 slots into the battery compartment and is connected by a cable to an AC adaptor that plugs into a normal wall socket.
The adaptor converts wall power into the low-voltage DC the camera expects and feeds it in continuously, so the camera behaves as though it has a battery that never runs out.
It is not a battery and it is not a power bank. It stores no charge of its own and cannot run away from a power source. What it does is remove the single biggest limit on a long shoot, which is battery life.
Because power is constant, you can leave the camera recording, capturing frames or streaming for hours without ever opening the battery door.
That is exactly what you want for a time-lapse that runs overnight, a product shoot in the studio where the camera stays locked on a tripod, a live stream that cannot afford a mid-broadcast battery change, or a long interview where a swap would break the moment.
It fits common Sony bodies such as the a6000, a6300, a6400, A7 II, A7R II, A7S II and NEX series.
The only requirement is a mains socket within reach of the camera, since the adaptor and coupler are joined by a cable and the camera stays tethered while it is powered this way.
Continuous mains power for your Sony camera, no battery swaps
