This is the Panasonic eneloop BQ-CC55, a compact smart charger for AA and AAA Ni-MH rechargeable batteries.
It has four charging slots, and each one works on its own, so you can charge any mix of one to four AA or AAA cells in the same session without one battery holding up the rest.
A three-colour LED sits above every slot: it shows red while a cell is low, yellow as it climbs past roughly 20 percent, and green once it is above 80 percent, so you can see at a glance which batteries are ready to go back into your gear.
A flashing yellow light warns you when a cell is wearing out and should be retired.
The charger runs straight off a mains outlet.
A fold-out AC plug is built into the housing and accepts 100 to 240 volts, so there is no separate power brick or cable to lose, and it works on Sri Lankan mains as well as on generator or inverter supply at outdoor sites.
It weighs only about 100 grams and slips easily into a camera bag or an AV kit box. It works with the Panasonic eneloop and eneloop pro families and most other Ni-MH AA and AAA cells.
It is the charger itself that you rent; rechargeable batteries are not included unless we have stated so on your quote, and it charges Ni-MH cells only, not lithium or alkaline.
