A passive 3.5mm male to XLR female converter that turns a laptop, phone or media player output into an XLR connector, so it can join a cable run to your mixer or PA. No power needed, and it is tested before every rental.

If you have a long unbalanced run from a consumer source, or you are fighting hum and ground loops, a DI box does active impedance matching and ground lift and is the better tool for that job.
