A passive, mono converter that turns a 6.3mm (1/4 inch) mono plug into a 3-pin XLR male, so a keyboard, mixer output or amp line out can reach an XLR line input on a mixer or PA. Tested before every rental.
A small inline audio adapter with a 6.3mm (1/4 inch) mono TS male plug on one end and a 3-pin XLR male plug on the other.
It converts a 1/4 inch mono line or instrument source, such as a keyboard, a guitar amp line out or a mixer output, into an XLR male so it plugs straight into an XLR line input on a mixer or PA.
It is fully passive with no electronics, so it does not power, buffer or balance the signal. The path is unbalanced and mono, which means a single channel passes through and a stereo source needs two units.
The direction of use is source to mixer: the 6.3mm end takes the source, the XLR end feeds the desk.
The all-metal zinc alloy shell with nickel-plated contacts helps reject hum and interference around lighting and wireless gear.
If you are connecting an instrument such as a guitar or bass, or running a long unbalanced cable into the desk, a DI box is the better tool because it balances the signal and drops the level; this converter is for the simple case where you just need to change the plug format on a line-level source over a short run.
