Will my laptop or phone work with this adapter?

It works only if the USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode. Most recent laptops with USB-C video, MacBooks, iPad Pro and Android flagship phones support it. Many budget laptops and phones have a data-only USB-C port that will not output any picture through this adapter.

Does it really do 4K?

Yes, up to 4K (3840x2160) at 30Hz. It is also backwards compatible down to 1080p and 720p, so it works with almost any HDMI monitor, TV or projector.

Does it carry sound as well as picture?

Yes. It sends both video and audio to the display over the single HDMI connection, so you do not need a separate audio lead if the screen or projector has speakers.

Will this charge my laptop while it is plugged in?

No. This is a video-out adapter only. It does not pass power through to charge your laptop and it does not add USB data ports. Keep your laptop on its own charger.

Yes, with a MacBook or iPad Pro that has a USB-C port supporting video output. Plug the adapter into the USB-C port, connect an HDMI cable to the display and select the screen in Display settings.

No. This is the adapter only. You will need an HDMI cable to run from the adapter to your TV, monitor or projector. We rent HDMI cables in several lengths if you need one.

Can I use it to output guaranteed 4K at 60Hz?

No. This adapter tops out at 4K at 30Hz. Whether you get smooth 4K 60Hz also depends on your source device and cable, so for fast-motion 4K work a different setup is needed. For most presentations, photos and signage 4K at 30Hz is fine.

Yes. Colombo and suburbs get same-day delivery. Island-wide delivery is available via courier. The adapter can be combined with other rentals and delivered together.

What ID and deposit do I need?

Sri Lankan customers need a National Identity Card and a small refundable deposit. Foreign customers need a passport.

What happens if the adapter is damaged?

Minor wear is expected and not charged. A cracked housing, bent connector or a unit broken by mishandling is charged from the refundable deposit per our damage policy.
