A 3-metre audio Y cable that takes the 3.5mm stereo output of a phone, laptop or tablet and splits it into two separate 6.35mm (1/4 inch) mono plugs, so you can feed the left and right channels into two inputs on a mixer or amp.

This is a 3-metre audio Y-splitter cable. One end is a single 3.5mm stereo (TRS) male plug, and the other end splits into two 6.35mm (1/4 inch) mono (TS) male plugs.
The 3.5mm plug goes into the headphone or line output of a phone, laptop, tablet or media player, and the cable breaks that stereo signal into two mono legs, one carrying the left channel and one carrying the right.
Those two 1/4 inch plugs go into two separate line inputs on a mixing console, powered speaker pair, amplifier or DJ mixer.
It is a passive cable with shielded conductors, so there are no drivers, no software and nothing to power. Plug it in and the audio passes straight through.
It is important to understand what the split is. The two 6.35mm plugs are not two identical stereo copies of the source.
They are the left and right channels as separate mono signals, which is exactly what a mixer or amp wants when you patch a stereo source across two of its channels.
This is audio only and line level, so it carries sound between a source and a mixer or amp input, never video and never amplified speaker output from a power amplifier.
