A Shure SM57 cardioid dynamic instrument and vocal microphone, built to close-mic snare drums, guitar and bass amps, brass and vocals. XLR output, no phantom power needed.
This is the genuine Shure SM57, a cardioid dynamic instrument microphone and the industry-standard workhorse trusted on stages and in studios for decades.
It uses a moving-coil dynamic capsule with a tailored cardioid polar pattern and a frequency response of 40 Hz to 15,000 Hz, giving a bright, clean sound with a contoured presence rise that helps drums, guitar amps, brass and woodwind cut through a busy mix.
The cardioid pattern rejects sound arriving from the rear, which isolates the source you are miking and helps keep feedback under control on a loud stage.
An internal pneumatic shock mount reduces handling and stand vibration reaching the signal, and the die-cast steel body with a hardened grille and steel mesh screen is made to survive the knocks and humidity of real-world use.
The SM57 is a wired, passive microphone with a 3-pin male XLR output, so it plugs into any mixing console, PA system, audio interface or portable recorder that has an XLR mic input with a preamp.
It needs no phantom power, batteries or external power source of any kind, and it has no on or off switch, so level and muting are handled at the mixer.
To use it you connect the SM57 to your mixer or interface with a standard XLR cable and mount it on a mic stand or its supplied clip.
That is the whole rig: mic, XLR cable and a mixer or interface with a preamp, plus a stand. We rent the cables, stands and mixers too, so you can put the complete signal chain on one rental list.
