BOYA BY-HM100 Handheld Dynamic Microphone

A rugged handheld mic built for interviews and reporting

The BOYA BY-HM100 is a handheld dynamic interview microphone that captures clear, close-up speech for mobile journalism, reporting and events.

It uses a rugged dynamic capsule and outputs over a standard XLR connector into your mixer, PA or audio interface.

The BOYA BY-HM100 is a handheld dynamic microphone from BOYA, a Chinese audio brand widely used for broadcast and content-creation gear.

It pairs a dynamic capsule with an omnidirectional pickup pattern and a voice-tuned 70Hz to 15kHz response, so it captures speech and announcements with a natural, present tone.

Because it is a passive dynamic mic, it needs no battery and no phantom power.

The body is built from durable aluminium-alloy for a balanced, hand-friendly feel during long sessions of handheld use, and the mesh head helps tame plosives and light wind.

The BY-HM100 outputs over a standard 3-pin XLR connector at the base.

That means it plugs straight into a mixer, PA system or audio interface with an XLR cable, and it can also be paired with a wireless XLR plug-on transmitter when you need a cable-free setup.

It is not a plug-and-play USB mic, so to record onto a phone, tablet, laptop or camera you add an XLR interface or adapter, which we also rent.

This keeps the mic itself simple and dependable: point it, plug it into your sound chain, and it works.

In a Sri Lankan rental context it suits interviews, ENG (electronic news gathering), press conferences, panel discussions, vlogging pieces to camera, live streaming and event hosting where a sturdy, reliable vocal mic is needed.
