A small passive converter that sends video one way from a DisplayPort laptop, desktop or graphics card to a legacy VGA projector or monitor in Full HD 1080p.
It plugs straight in with no drivers and no power, so a modern computer just works on a room's old VGA display.
This is a UGREEN converter with a full-size DisplayPort male plug on one end and a VGA female socket on the other, on a short 0.15 metre lead.
It takes the digital video from the DisplayPort output and converts it to an analog VGA signal for an older display, at up to Full HD 1080p at 60Hz.
The conversion runs one way only, from the DisplayPort source out to the VGA display, so it feeds an old projector or screen but cannot pull a VGA source back into a computer.
It is passive and plug-and-play, drawing the little power it needs from the DisplayPort source, with no drivers to install and no adapter to plug in.
It carries picture only, because the VGA standard has no audio channel, so run a separate 3.5mm audio lead from the laptop to your speakers when you need sound.
Because the lead is only 0.15 metres, add a VGA cable to reach a projector or monitor set back across the room. Choose it when a DisplayPort computer has to drive a VGA-only display.
