A TP-Link TL-WN823N 300Mbps mini wireless USB adapter that plugs into a USB port and gives a desktop or laptop 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. It is plug and play, so you can get a computer online in minutes without opening the case.
This is a small USB Wi-Fi dongle from TP-Link, the TL-WN823N, that adds wireless networking to any computer with a spare USB port.
It works on the 2.4GHz band across the 802.11b/g/n standards and links at up to 300Mbps, so a desktop with no wireless card, or a laptop whose built-in Wi-Fi has failed, can join an existing Wi-Fi network.
The body is tiny at 39 x 18.35 x 7.87 mm, so once it is pushed into the port it sits nearly flush with the machine and is easy to carry between locations.
It connects over a standard USB 2.0 interface and uses an internal MIMO antenna, so there is nothing external to mount or aim.
In practice you install the matching driver for your operating system, plug the dongle in, and pick your Wi-Fi network.
It supports Windows from XP through Windows 11, macOS 10.9 to 10.13, and Linux kernels 2.6.24 to 4.9.60, which makes it handy on older control PCs as well as current machines.
A WPS button on the body lets you pair with a compatible router in one press. It runs in Client mode to join a network, or in Soft AP mode to share a wired connection as a basic hotspot.
It is a single-band 2.4GHz adapter, so it is the right fit for a quick, reliable connection rather than for high-throughput 5GHz work.
