An active converter that turns a digital HDMI source into an analog VGA signal, so an HDMI laptop, mini PC, media stick or console can drive an older VGA projector or monitor at up to Full HD 1080p.
Because VGA carries picture only, it has a built-in 3.5mm audio-out jack to send sound to your speakers.
A compact active converter with a full-size HDMI Type-A male plug on the input side and a VGA female port on the output side.
HDMI is a digital signal and VGA is analog, so a passive lead cannot bridge them: an internal chip does the digital-to-analog conversion, which is why it works with HDMI sources that cannot output VGA on their own.
It is one-directional, sending video from the HDMI source out to a VGA display only, and it cannot run the other way from VGA into an HDMI screen.
The maximum output is Full HD 1080p at 60Hz, capped by what the analog VGA display supports.
VGA carries no sound, so the built-in 3.5mm audio-out jack breaks out the HDMI audio for speakers, a mixer or a projector audio input via a 3.5mm lead.
Most of the time it runs on the power it draws from the HDMI port, but when the source is weak, such as an older laptop, mini PC or streaming stick, plug the included micro-USB lead into a charger or USB port for a stable picture.
Choose it whenever a modern HDMI device has to reach a VGA-only projector or screen.
