One tidy 5-metre reel for professional 1080p SDI video runs

A 5-metre 3G-SDI coaxial cable on a reel, terminated with BNC connectors, for carrying Full HD 1080p broadcast video between SDI-equipped gear on a compact stage or studio desk.

This is a professional broadcast video cable, not an HDMI lead.

It is 5 metres of 75-ohm coaxial cable built with an oxygen-free copper conductor, foam polyethylene insulation and a flexible PUR or PVC outer jacket, wound onto a lightweight reel so it pays out and re-spools quickly between jobs.

One end is a BNC male connector and the other is BNC female, and the bayonet BNC locks positively into cameras, switchers, monitors, recorders and converters so the link does not pop out mid-take.

It carries Serial Digital Interface video at the 3G-SDI data rate of up to 3.0 Gb/s, which covers SD-SDI, HD-SDI and full 3G-SDI, so it passes Full HD 1080p at up to 60 frames per second.

Embedded digital audio, timecode and ancillary data ride inside the same SDI stream on one coax run.

At 5 metres the run sits well inside the loss budget for 1080p, making it a neat choice for short camera-to-switcher, switcher-to-monitor and desk-to-recorder hops.

It does not carry 4K, and because SDI is a broadcast standard it needs SDI-equipped gear at both ends.
