A 5-metre audio cable with a 6.35mm (1/4 inch) TS mono male on one end and a 3-pin XLR female on the other, so a 1/4 inch line, instrument or amplifier output feeds straight into an XLR female input.
It is tested before every rental, so it just works on the day.
This is a 5-metre audio cable that connects a 6.35mm (1/4 inch) TS mono male plug on one end to a 3-pin XLR female connector on the other.
It takes a 1/4 inch output, such as a line out, an instrument out or an amplifier output, and joins it to an XLR female input path.
That input path is usually an XLR socket on a mixer or stage box, or the female end can accept a male XLR cable to extend the run.
It carries audio only, not video or data, so it is built for one job: getting sound from a quarter-inch source into an XLR input over a comfortable 5-metre reach.
It is worth being clear about what the cable does and does not do. Because the 1/4 inch end is TS, tip and sleeve, it is an unbalanced, mono connection, so the cable does not create a truly balanced signal on its own.
That is fine for line and instrument level sources and dynamic microphone paths over this 5-metre length, and it keeps a small, low-cost lead in your kit.
It does not carry 48V phantom power to condenser microphones, and it is not a substitute for a fully balanced XLR to XLR cable on very long, noisy runs.
Rent it when the input you need to reach is XLR female and your source is a standard 1/4 inch jack.
