A compact Blackmagic hardware control surface that lets you grade footage inside DaVinci Resolve with three trackballs and 12 knobs instead of a mouse. It is planned for our fleet, so tell us if you need it.

This is the Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve Micro Color Panel, a hardware colour-grading control surface built to work with DaVinci Resolve.

It gives a colourist three weighted trackballs with outer rings and a row of 12 control knobs, so instead of clicking sliders with a mouse you shape the picture with your hands.

The three trackballs drive lift, gamma and gain across the primary colour wheels, while the knobs cover parameters such as contrast, saturation, hue, temperature, tint, highlights and shadows.

The panel connects to a computer over USB-C, and once DaVinci Resolve is open on that computer the controls map straight to the grading page.

It is important to be clear about what this panel is and is not. It is a control surface only, so it does not process or store video, it does not switch cameras, and it is not a streaming device.

It cannot grade on its own; it needs a computer that is already running DaVinci Resolve to drive.

What it does do is make grading far faster and more precise, because you can move several controls at once and feel the adjustment rather than hunt for it on screen.
