A passive 4-channel extender that sends four 3-pin XLR lines of balanced audio or DMX512 lighting control over a single Cat5 or Cat6 network cable, then turns them back into XLR at the far end.
It rents as a pair, one unit for each end of the run.
This is a matched pair of passive breakout units for live stage and event work.
Each unit carries four 3-pin XLR male connectors and four 3-pin XLR female connectors on one side and a single RJ45 network socket on the other.
You plug four XLR cables into one unit, run a single Cat5 or Cat6 network cable to the second unit across the venue, and pick up the same four XLR lines at the other end.
Each XLR channel is wired to its own pair inside the network cable, so all four channels travel together over one thin, cheap cable.
It is signal-agnostic within the balanced world: the four channels can carry balanced microphone or line audio, or four universes-worth of DMX512 lighting control data, whichever you need.
Because the design is fully passive there is no power supply, nothing to switch on and nothing to configure. The maximum run is estimated at around 90 to 100 metres over good-quality cable.
It carries the signal only, so mixers, microphones, DMX consoles and lighting fixtures are not part of the rental.
Crews reach for it to replace four heavy XLR snakes with one neat network cable across a stage, ballroom or hall.
