The GoPro Media Mod (ADFMD-001) is an accessory that turns a compact HERO Black into a proper vlogging and interview rig, with a built-in directional shotgun mic, a 3.5mm mic input, an HDMI-out port and two cold-shoe mounts.
Rent it alongside a compatible GoPro HERO camera.
This is the GoPro Media Mod, a case or frame that clips around a GoPro HERO9, HERO10, HERO11, HERO12 or HERO13 Black.
It is an accessory, not a camera on its own, and it draws its power passively from the GoPro it is fitted to.
Its main job is audio: it adds a built-in directional shotgun microphone with Front, Back and Stereo modes, so the camera can focus on the person speaking and reject side and background noise far better than the tiny mics built into a bare GoPro.
A removable foam windscreen slips over the mic to tame wind gusts up to about 20 mph (32 kph) for cleaner outdoor recording.
Beyond the microphone, the Media Mod expands what the little camera can connect to and carry.
It adds a 3.5mm microphone input for plugging in a lavalier or shotgun mic, an HDMI-out port for sending the live image to an external monitor or capture device, and two cold-shoe mounts on top for a small light, an on-camera monitor or a second microphone.
To fit it, the HERO's side door is removed and the camera seats inside the polycarbonate housing, held by a thumb screw, which means the camera is no longer waterproof while the mod is on.
For Sri Lankan creators it is a popular rental for wedding and event vlogs, YouTube and TikTok pieces, and run-and-gun interviews where on-camera narration must stay crisp. The GoPro camera itself is rented separately.
