The TP-Link TL-ER6120 is a SafeStream gigabit dual-WAN VPN router built for small business, office and event networks that need internet that stays up.

It is a wired router with no built-in Wi-Fi, so it acts as the gateway and firewall for your network while access points or switches handle the local connections.

Under the hood it runs a 64-bit dual-core processor with 512MB of DDR3 memory, delivering up to 936Mbps of NAT throughput and 373Mbps of IPsec VPN throughput.

Connectivity is handled through two gigabit WAN ports, two gigabit LAN ports and one configurable gigabit LAN/DMZ port, plus a console port for command-line management.

Its main job is to combine or fail over two internet lines.

Intelligent load balancing spreads traffic across both WAN ports in proportion to their bandwidth, while link backup switches to the second line automatically if one drops, so a live stream or a checkout never stalls on a single connection.

The hardware VPN engine supports up to 100 IPsec tunnels with DES, 3DES and AES encryption, alongside PPTP and L2TP server and client modes, for secure site-to-site or remote-worker access.

A built-in firewall adds DoS defence, access control and a DMZ port for safely exposing a public-facing server. It fits a standard 19-inch rack in a 1U chassis and runs on AC 100 to 240V mains power.
