An active VGA to HDMI converter that takes the VGA video and audio out of an older laptop or PC and turns it into a single HDMI signal a modern TV or projector accepts.
It is USB-powered and carries the sound into HDMI, so one lead does picture and audio.
This is a powered VGA to HDMI converter with audio support. On the input side it takes an analog VGA (HD15) video connection plus a 3.5mm analog audio connection from an older laptop, PC or other VGA-only source.
On the output side it produces a single HDMI signal, up to Full HD 1080p, with that audio embedded into the HDMI so the picture and sound travel together on one cable.
Because VGA is analog and HDMI is digital, the converter actively rebuilds the signal, which is why it needs a USB 5V power supply to run.
It is important to know that this converter is one-directional. It only goes VGA in to HDMI out. It is not a HDMI to VGA converter and will not send an HDMI source to an old VGA display.
Use it when your source is VGA and your screen is HDMI: an older laptop or desktop feeding a newer HDMI television, monitor or projector that no longer offers a VGA socket.
The final picture is limited to 1080p and by the quality of the analog VGA source, so it is the right tool for making legacy gear work with modern screens rather than for high-resolution 4K work.
